Changes a' comin

Lately, I've been thinking of what to do after I earn my Master's degree. I graduate mid April and I cannot wait. I'm so excited to have that time back that has been spent studying, researching, writing papers. Hours and hours spent while losing sleep. At the same time, I really want to be able to use my Master's to be able to make a better name for myself. For the past several months, I have been waiting for the perfect time to become a Pampered Chef consultant under a family friend who is a Director. I realize she has made this her big success and she's been able to succeed in so many ways, but I want this to be my success.

I mean, I realize its sales and people get so iffy around people who sell stuff to them. But I can't help notice the many benefits it would give my husband and I as we start nearing towards starting our own family. I mean for one, it would enable me to work when I want & be my own boss. It would enable me to not be tied down to a 9-5 job, and spend time with my kids as they grow up. I would be able to network, meet new people and creating new experiences for them which combines my passion for baking and creating relationships with others.

Breast cancer is something I fight for, with those I have lost who battled it in my life.
Being a part of a company who fights alongside is a win.

How cool to be a part of a business that is centered on creating experiences and building
relationships with others?

11 Questions

Amazing how Pinterest can lead you in all sorts of directions, but I found this blog called Maybe Matilda and I've found all sorts of new projects to try, especially in the areas of crocheting & sewing. Most all of the women in my family can do one or another and the effort/passion combination gives you some pretty awesome results to use most anywhere like your house, your children, spouse, gifts, and the list just goes on and on.
I was reading Rachel's blog and since I am just coming back from an unexpected 2.5 month blogging hiatus and on top of that, my blog is in its early days where I don't have many blog friends, I thought I'd be candid and answer these questions that Rachel had used on her page. So, here goes nothin' right? Indeed.

1. Since I admitted my celebrity crushes, past and present . . . go ahead and name one (or two, or three) of yours. Male or female. Heaven knows I have plenty of each.

Well, let's see. My close friends would never let me forget my big crush (more like I wish you'd marry me kind of crush) on Zac Efron. When I was in my teens, I loved the show 'Boy Meets World' and found the official fan page for Ben Savage and distinctly remember leaving a message like- I really like you, won't you be mine. Yeah, he never got back to me. Which side note: I recently showed my younger sisters an episode of 'Boy Meets World' and they were so bored/uninterested that when I went out of the room for a nanosecond, they turned the channel! Lets see, another person I had the hots for was Freddy on iCarly, another one my close friends teased me about, like it was ever going to happen. Last one, the Hanson bros, specifically Zac.

2. What’s your favorite book?

For the past few years (thanks to my aunt Kerri) I've been reading this series by James Patterson that I'm probably going to restart with. I say years because I'm to cheap to just buy the books and I read so fast that I couldn't justify that purchase to my husband now. So, its been like 5 years, not done and I wish I could just spend hours reading at Barnes & Noble which was my favorite part of college. No shame there.
3. What are your 5 favorite TV shows?

First, I have to pay homage to my all favorite show: One Tree Hill. It ended last year and I just loved it but Thank God for Hulu and Netflix. My next ones are a bit of a tie as I love them lots but can't put one above the other: NCIS & Law & Order: SVU. I've watched both for years and love the chemistry between characters. Next, definitely Once Upon A Time. Definitely a show that my husband and I watch together. I love how they spin classic fairy tale characters into real life character tales. Great season so far. Parks and Rec on NBC always cracks me up. The last 3 are all favorites and divided equally: Bob's Burgers, New Girl and The Office.

4. Guilty pleasure?

I love watching Teen Mom 1 & 2. Don't quite know why but I have my faves like Maci, Catelynn, Leah & Kailyn. I'm glad I made the choices I did when I was a teen but these girls have earned my respect for being teen moms.

5. Any goals you’re currently working on?

I have been losing weight since April, kind of hit a few plateaus so I am trying to get back into it as hard as I was.  So far I'm 30 pounds down and I still have quite a bit to go. It's a two fold plan: to be healthy and fit, and to start a family. I'm also getting back into blogging as I love to write. I wish I could have published my book that I wrote for teen girls but that's become more of a journal for me to see where I've come from and confidence boosting. More goals including: finding more ways to decorate my new home. Moved in 10 1/2 months ago but still in the process of making it ours. And lastly, cooking/baking, sewing and crocheting. The last two are largely done by the women on my side of family and I'm excited to join the ranks.

6. A trend or style you've wanted to try, but been scared to?

Most of my family members love to run. But with my body shape (I've got a bigger chest than most women), and I don''t love my immediate neighbors, I'm afraid I'd feel dorky. So, I'm still iffy.

7. A skill you’d love to learn?

As mentioned in #5, two skills are: sewing and crocheting. My mom is going to teach me crocheting soon as I saw the baby blanket that Rachel made for her son and I want to have that blanket for when we have kids (in the next year or so). When I was growing up, my mom made me so many clothes through sewing, I'd love to be able to keep up that tradition for my future daughters or my close friends' future daughters.

8. If you had a day to yourself with unlimited money to spend and no obligations, what would you do?

I'd pay off my mortgage, all our student loans, buy a new car and have a nice big dinner with good friends. That'd be one of the best days of my life.
9. A person (living or dead) you’d love to meet?

Reese Witherspoon.

10. If you weren’t doing the career you’re doing now (being a stay-at-home mom counts as a career), what would you want to be doing instead?

Either an elementary teacher or a school counselor.

11. What are the names you want/wanted to give your kids until your meanie-pants spouse vetoed them? For a girl- Isabella. Boy- Troy.
